Construction of the Cancer Survivors Park

The Swamp Rabbit Trail section of CSP connecting Falls Park with Cleveland Park is now open on weekends only during the following hours:

Fridays 6pm-9pm; Saturdays and Sundays 5am-9pm.

The trail will be closed during weekdays to allow park construction to continue for opening this fall.  Thank you for not entering construction areas and please be safe!

Construction of Phase II of the Cancer Survivors Park (CSP) began in Sept. 2016. High Level Phase II Donors were acknowledged at a Groundbreaking ceremony.  The "Spirit of Survivorship Bridge" has begun installation to be opened next spring along with the rest of the Phase II.  Phase I (CSP Boardwalk) was complete Jan 2016.

Phase II will include:

  • New 12-foot wide Spirit bridge
  • Survivorship Education Center (structure only)
  • Celebration Pavilion Platform
  • Waterfall
  • ADA accessible walkway from the Chamber of Commerce
  • ADA accessible garden paths & infrastructure
  • Swamp Rabbit Trail re-alignment & resurfacing

For public safety during construction, the City of Greenville has closed both the Swamp Rabbit Trail between Church Street and Cleveland Street and the CSP boardwalk during weekdays with suggested trail reroutes posted in the area until completion of Phase II.

Expected completion of Phase II is fall 2017.  Thank you for your patience as a special and healing space is being created for all.

Stakeholders and donors put the first shovels in the sand at the Sept 27th groundbreaking.

Survivor of her husband David, donor Julie Cline is shown below sharing her story - "I like the idea of this Park being a community-wide thing – cancer doesn’t just effect one person or just the family."

Safety First!  Please adhere to the instructions not to enter into the construction site.
