Beth Leatherman

On Christmas Eve, 2013, Beth was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. Not exactly the news you want to hear any time, and especially not on Christmas Eve. Her uphill battle to beat cancer began that day with the overwhelming support of  family and friends.  After going through 6 months of chemotherapy, she felt it was time to give back.  She  read  an article in The Greenville Journal about the Cancer Survivors Park Alliance (CSPA),  and  immediately knew this was for her!  Beth felt this would be something that not only would be meaningful to her, but also benefit others going through cancer, their families and friends.

Beth feels watchinga large piece of  kudzu covered land turn in to such a meaningful park for hope and healing continues to be therapeutic  for her. The CSPA has become a frequent topic of discussion with her friends and  family over the last 5 years,  especially her son Patrick, who has shared ideas on how to make areas of the park  therapeutic for everyone.  The further construction got, the more enthusiastic she became and volunteering is something she enjoys and  looks forward to.  Itís an  honor to be a part of such an exciting project.

Beth is a retired marketing manager with Fluor Corporation.  She remains enthusiastic about  the continued growth of the Cancer Survivors Park Alliance.
